I work out at my own centre, where we teach a variety of regimes. I exercise while I8217;m teaching and do four to five sessions a week. This includes about 40 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of Pilates and strength-training. These days, I take a walk, although I hate it.
You gave birth a few months ago. How did you manage to lose the excess weight?
I haven8217;t completely shed it and I8217;m not exactly the same as I was before the pregnancy, but the best way to shed the pounds is to do a combination of cardio and strength-training.
Do you follow a strict diet?
I have a high-carb diet and eat complex carbs like rice, potatoes and whole wheat instead of simple carbs like sweets and chocolates. I also have plenty of fish, meat, fruits and raw vegetables. I eat six to seven mini meals a day and drink close to four litres of water.
Why a high-carb diet when the current trend is high-protein and low-carb?
It8217;s been long proven that crash and fad diets don8217;t work. Ideally, 58 per cent of your food intake should be complex carbs and a small percentage should be protein. Any excess is converted into fat and could also overload the kidneys and liver.
