‘How did Ambika Soni know what was in tapes?’

Addressing the media after a trip to Hyderabad to solicit the support of TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, Singh said: “If the Congress could pull down the Chandrashekhar government in 1991, accusing it of snooping for posting a police constable outside late Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi’s house, here is a tapping case which has been acknowledged not only by the Home Ministry but also the Prime Minister.’’ Singh added that if the Centre was not responsible for the tapping, how did Congress general secretary Ambika Soni know what the alleged tapes contained when she said they were of an amorous nature. “How did she say it was like Operation Majnu?”
