US actor Sir Anthony Hopkins cancelled his promotional events in Australia on Wednesday reportedly after a note from the serial sniper terrorising the US was linked to his film, Hannibal.
Neil Mitchell, the host of a Melbourne radio talk show, said Hopkins cancelled an interview with him scheduled for today on the orders of his US management company, following reports that the sniper’s note bore similarities to a letter written by a Hopkins’ character, serial killer Hannibal Lecter, in the film Hannibal.
Hopkins was in Melbourne as part of a promotional tour for his new film, Red Dragon, the third in the Hannibal series. United International Pictures marketing manager John Anderson said he had no knowledge about any connection between Hopkins’ decision and the US sniper case.
