Honda City to hit Indian roads in January

NEW DELHI, December 17: Honda Siel Cars India Ltd today announced that it will launch Honda City’ in January 1998.Speaking to presspersons here today, president of Honda (Asia) S Toshida said: “The car has been priced competitively. It has been modified keeping in mind Indian conditions.”

Honda City will be available in five models of 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre engine categories. The 1.5 litre car will be launched in February 1998.

The two models with 1.3-litre engine will be priced at Rs 5.8 lakh and Rs 6.3 lakh, respectively (in Delhi), while 1.5-litre model will be priced at Rs 6.99 lakh. Honda intends to launch two more models — a 1.5-litre sporty version and an automatic transmission model by March. The fuel consumption of the car under test conditions for 1.3 litre is 20.34 km per litre, and for 1.5 litre is 19.90 km per litre.
