SHIMLA, June 12: The 320-km long Hindustan-Tibet road was blocked beyond Tapri in Kinnaur district due to landslides as several areas in the state experienced rain for the second day today.
According to reports received here, landslides occurred at several places between Tapri and Rekong Peo, headquarters of Kinnaur district, following moderate to heavy rainfall for the past two days.
Manali-Keylong road was also blocked due to snowfall on the 13,050-ft high Rohtang Pass and landslides on the road. The Border Road Organisation was engaged in clearing the snow and debris. Shimla and its adjoining areas were lashed by rain for a brief period, resulting in the dipping of temperature. The town remained shrouded in a fog which, however, cleared as the day advanced.
Tourist places in this district also experienced rain. Reports of rain were also received from Kullu, Mandi and Solan districts.
