NEW DELHI, JANUARY 6: The RSS on Wednesday came down heavily on the Government for its decision to release three militants in lieu of the hostages of the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-814.
While RSS chief Rajendra Singh, better known as Rajju Bhaiya, criticised the Government decision in an interview published in the latest issue of his organisation’s mouthpiece Panchajanya, the journal, in its editorial, admitted that the episode would adversely affect the BJP’s image.
“The RSS has never supported the idea of releasing terrorists in exchange of hostages,” Rajju Bhaiya observed in the interview. He recalled that the RSS had opposed the release of some terrorists to free the daughter of then Union home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed from her abductors as well and said the present incident had brought to light the “cowardice” in the Hindu society.
