Jalebee Cartel goes the electronic way to win the hearts of music lovers
For sometime now, techno, trance, progressive dance music have all fused into one electronic blur. Repetitive rhythms, banal beats and missing melodies have made what8217;s futuristic, stagnant. To think that variation would come, and how! To think that it would arise from India? Yet that is exactly what Jalebee Cartel has done in the past 3 years. Djs Ash, Arjun, G-Force and Ashwin have re-energised the phoren phenomena of electronic dance music by infusing it with a traditional twist. Loaded with laptops, tablas, guitars and synths they play God with the sonic spectrum. The booming bass, ethnic beats and fluid arpeggios defy categorisation.
Everything, from their music, track titles to the band name has an unconventional and bizarre edge, one wonders what inspires them! 8220;Each one of us in the band inspires the other! Our performances are very spontaneous, we don8217;t prepare for it! I guess we just enjoy performing with each other. Every time we sit and work on a track we try out something different. Right now we are producing a lot of tech house and techno. It took us a while to discover our sound. You can call it IDM 8211; intelligent dance music,8221; ventures Arjun. Talking about their long-term goals and careers, they have just one simple wish, 8220;We all want to just stick together and keep making music and performing in every part of the world. We are working on our album and our video is going to be out soon!8221;
After performances at France, Singapore and Dubai their success is evident by the huge international following that spins to their tracks, right from Argentina to Indonesia! The gig at North Main too, drew a full house. Every person present danced non-stop to the last beat of their music, with an enthusiasm that even the rains and a sudden power cut could not dampen.
So why did they choose Pune? Simply put, Pune chose us!
