MUMBAI, May 15: The Vakola police have arrested two youth, one of whom is a mechanical engineer, for stealing computers and computer peripherals worth Rs 30 lakhs.

Property worth Rs 25 lakhs has been recovered from the duo, the police said. Ravi Patta, an engineer, and Jagannath Sahu were arrested for theft from a private firm on April 28. Sahu, who was employed with the company, prepared duplicate keys.

Along with Patta, he carried away 20 computers, laserjet and dot matrix printers, uninterrupted power supply units and certain software packages. Enquiries by the police who posed as prospective customers led to the duo’s arrest. They have been remanded to police custody.
