There were few voters, more security force personnel during the repoll in Chapra Lok Sabha constituency. Turnout remained between 40 and 45 per cent while 69 preventive arrests were made by evening, Bihar CEO K.C. Saha said.

Security was tight following complaints of booth-capturing by then Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy during the first round of polls on April 26.

The EC had ordered repolls on Rudy’s complaints that his rival Laloo Prasad Yadav’s supporters had captured several booths.

With 6,000 men from the Central Paramilitary Forces and 5,000 from the state police there was less violence this time around. The SP ordered the arrest of RJD leader and Biscomaun chairman Sunil Singh for allegedly trying to influence voters in Sonepur.

In Manpur Diera, a man lost his hand when a crude bomb he was carrying went off. At Naya Gaon, two people were injured in firing by RJD workers. A man was injured in exchange of fire between RJD and BJP supporters at Gopalpur Tola. Prohibitory orders were imposed all around and vehicles ordered off the roads.
