Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a writ petition by Pakistani woman Tasleem Murad challenging the state government’s order seeking to deport her from the country following expiry of her visa.

Tasleem’s husband Mohammed Javed Azmath, who was picked up by US authorities after the September 11 attacks, is still under custody on charges of credit card forgery.

Justice V.V.S. Rao yesterday dismissed the plea for extension of visa, which expired in February, by two years on the ground that she was married to an Indian and her baby was also an Indian citizen by birth.

She had moved the court last month after the state served a notice on her following expiry of her visa.

The Central government told the court it had not received any visa extension application.

Tasleem said she is planning to move a revision petition before a larger bench of the high court. ‘‘I do not want to leave. I will wait for my husband to return,’’ she said.
