The special cell of Kolkata Police probing the Rs 150 crore payment scam at the CSE on Monday told the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate that siphoning off of funds through hawala channels had led to the crisis, as the court remanded the eight accused back to police custody. Documents seized from various quarters over the past few days in connection with the scam revealed that certain transactions took place through hawala channels, the public prosecutor A.K. Bakshi told CMM S.C. Mishra’s court.

KOLKATA: The former CSE president Dinesh Singhania, is wanted by the Economic Offence Wing (Crime Branch CID) of Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged cheating case involving Rs 32 crore. A team of Mumbai Police is in Kolkata looking for Singhania, who has allegedly gone underground. (PTI) |
Mishra granted the police prayer for remanding the eight back to police custody from judicial custody. The eight were—MD of SREI Securities Limited Dinesh Jain, Kishen Kumar Sharma, an employee of Mega Stock Ltd, a firm owned by former CSE president and one of the accused Dinesh Singhania and six brokers, Harish Chander Biyani, Ramesh Chander Biyani, Raj Kumar Jain, Gopal Singhania, Vijay Singhania and Basudeo Singhania.
