CHANDIGARH, Aug 12: The executive committee of the Haryana Olympic Association today decided to send a 250-member team for the Manipur National Games to be held in Imphal from October 4 to 14. According to a spokesman of the apex sports body of Haryana, the selected sportspersons would attend a three-week coaching camp from September 5 before leaving for Manipur.

A number of state sports associations have not submitted the list of their players. These associations have been asked to send their entries at the earliest.

Those associations who have yet to finalise their teams are: Cyling, equestrian, fencing, judo and shooting.

A sum of Rs 5 lakh would be spent on the state contingent. The Sports Department is likely to sanction Rs 3.5 lakh and remaining amount would be raised by the HOA.

Meanwhile, RS Malik has been appointed chef-de-mission while Deputy Ram Sharma will be deputy chef-de-mission. Randhir Singh will be the secretary-cum-treasurer of the Haryana team.

The HOA has finalised the list of the players in archery (8), athletics (45), boxing (14), canoeing and kayaking (22), gymnastics (180, handball (36), kabaddi (28), rowing (16), sepak takraw (14), swimming, diving and water polo (10), taekwondo (30), triathlon (10), weighlifting (19), wrestling (36).

Kabaddi camp
Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India has invited 24 players for national coaching camp which began at Patiala today, according to federation treasurer Rohtas Singh. The camps are being held in preparation for the Indian team’s participation in the Asian Games later this year.

Those invited to the camp are: Ganeshan, Bhaskaren, Prabhakaran, Muruganandham (TN), Naresh Kumar, Jagat Singh, Rambir Singh, Balwan Singh (Haryana), Virender Kumar, Ranbir Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Vijay Kumar (Del), Sanjay Purohit (MP), Bhima Dharela (Orissa), Ram Mehar Singh, Jai Singh (Services), Vikram Singh, Ram Singh (Punjab), Parmeshwaran, Jai Kawar (CCSSCB), Srinivasa (AP), Vishwajeet Palit (Bengal), Dharnindhar (Bihar) and Asraf (Kerala).
