India spinner Harbhajan Singh successfully underwent surgery on his injured right finger on Friday and his fitness will be assessed in Melbourne next week. ‘‘It went off well and he’s recovering,’’ team manager Shivlal Yadav said from Hobart. ‘‘He should be alright in a couple of days. It was on his spinning finger and the next finger.’’The 23-year-old spinner took an amazing 32 wickets in India’s 2-1 series win at home against Australia two years ago but bowled poorly in the opening match of the series in Australia.
