Cracking the whip against senior police officials in poll-bound Gujarat, the Election Commission on Thursday ordered transfer of three senior police officials, including the Vadodara Commissioner of Police, for alleged dereliction of duty.
Apart from P C Thakur, Commissioner of Police in Vadadora, the EC ordered the transfer of P K Jha, Joint Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad and D S Bhatt, Superintendent of Police of Anand.
The Commission has directed the state authorities to send a panel of names by Friday.
This is the second major shake-up ordered by the EC after it ordered shifting of six senior police officers including DGP P C Pandey, said to be close to Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, the poll panel had ordered transfer of two District Collectors.
