MUMBAI, Aug 14: Indians, anywhere in the world, will be able to greet their friends and relatives this year on the occasion of India’s independence day through Air-India’s website. The national carrier’s website, besides extending a greeting to all those who visit its website on airindia.com between August 14 to 16, is providing a choice of two cards for people to select and send their greetings.

A spokesman of Air-India in a statement said that Air-India is e-mailing specially designed greeting cards to 5,000 Indians in India and abroad whose e-mail addresses are with the airline as part of the routine e-mail correspondence received by the national carrier in connection with travel and flight information.

Incidentally, Air-India’s website which has since March this year been offering greeting cards to suit occasions like bon voyage, birthdays, wedding anniversaries and the birth of a baby has been a big draw with internet users.

Specially designed greeting cards on Indian festivals, such as Onam,Diwali, Id, Christmas, Pongal and Holi, will be added on the site a couple of weeks prior to the festival to enable even non-resident Indians (NRIs) to participate in festivals by sending greetings to their relatives in India on such occasions.
