NEW Delhi, DEC 16: The government is considering setting up an agency to coordinate the working of personnel of different ministries at the international airports of the country, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Chaman Lal Gupta said today. The idea of setting up a co-ordinating agency was mooted after the death of a seven-year-old girl in an escalator accident at the Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi on Tuesday.Stating that the report of inquiry into the incident was submitted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday night and was being studied by the ministry, Gupta said "there are so many employees working at the airport under different departments and it seems that nobody is responsible to none."Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav on Thursday refused to commit himself on a judicial inquiry into Monday's escalator accident at the Indira Gandhi International airport but said a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted.Replying to clarifications in the RajyaSabha, Yadav said he had not fully accepted the report of the departmental inquiry and a detailed probe would be held to ensure that such accidents do not recur. He said his Ministry had decided to depute a person either from the Airport Authority of India or from the escalator company to supervise escalators.
