The government has set up a Performance Management Agency (PMA) for developing and implementing all projects of upgrading state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). This was decided at a meeting called by the finance secretary today. It is reported that apart from IL&FS Corporation, PMA would have representations from major industry chambers like the CII, FICCI, Assocham and the PHDCCI.
Earlier, IL&FS had proposed to set up a National Performance Management Agency (NPMA) for the purpose. But after considering the views of all the industry chambers and the Union labour secretary, a consensus was reached to set up an PMA.
Sources said that the finance ministry has constituted a committee to prepare a report on how these projects would be implemented by the PMA. The committee would give suggestions on improvement of the draft MoU prepared by the Union labour ministry.
The MoU was prepared after reaching a consensus with the industry chambers.
