NEW DELHI, NOV 11: The government is committed to divesting its stake in public sector undertakings (PSUs) to impart greater efficiency and gear up to meet global challenges, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Manohar Joshi said here today.

"We have decided to go ahead with disinvestment in PSUs and the process is on. We would soon be going to the market for other companies also," Joshi told PTI soon after receiving a Rs 2.01 crore cheque presented by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for the cyclone victims of Orissa.

Stating that government was taking various steps for making the PSUs competent globally, Joshi said disinvestment was one such process.

Government was yet to finalise the expanded list of PSUs for disinvestment, Joshi said adding, "we are yet to finalise the names."

The government had targetted to mop up Rs 10,000 crore through disinvestment this year.
