Rajasthan8217;s former chief minister Shiv Charan Mathur has been appointed the new Governor of Assam, a statement from Rashtrapati Bhawan said on Thursday.
The 82-year-old Mathur will replace Lt Gen Retd Ajai Singh in a reshuffle of governors in five states.
Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, a former director general of the Border Security Force BSF, has been named the Governor of Meghalaya in place of Dr S S Sidhu, who was holding the additional charge in Shillong along with being the Governor of Manipur.
The Governors of Bihar and Kerala have been inter-changed. R S Gavai will now occupy the Raj Bhawan in Thiruvananthapuram while R L Bhatia has been shifted to Patna. Sikkim has also got a new Governor with Balmiki Prasad Singh replacing Sudershan Agarwal.
