Russia the first country eliminated from Euro 2004, vowed on Friday to reward their thousands of travelling fans by beating Greece on Sunday.
“We only have pride to play for now but we will not be forgiven for any lack of effort against Greece,” assistant coach Alexander Borodyuk told fans at a meetingl. An army of about 10,000 Russians has come to Euro 2004, the first time the country has had such a following at a major tournament and evidence of growing affluence for some Russians at least.
