
VADODARA, June 8: Vadodara Municipal School Board vice-chairman Kasturbhai Patel said on Monday that textbooks, slates and other educational materials will be distributed free of cost to students of Board-run schools on the first day of the academic year as part of the plan to improve the quality of education.
Patel said this decision was taken at a meeting held here on Monday.He stated that the principals would be made accountable and they would be made to check the logbooks regularly. Patel further said the principals were asked to ensure that education was imparted for a minimum time of 25 hours during the week.
The class IV workers will have to wear the uniforms compulsorily and the aayas will have to bring children to schools and send them back on a regular basis. He said stringent action would be taken against the defaulters.He further said special camps would be held for teachers to provide them finer points of “Joyful Learning Programme”.
Opposition leader Kamalkant Pandya stated that record should also be maintained about the strength of students, teachers and improvement in the quality of education.
