Four JeM militants shot in Uri sector

Joneja said the troops later carried out a search operation in the dense forests of the area and recovered the bodies of the four militants.

‘‘We have identified all the slain infiltrators. They were foreigners and belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit,’’ he said. ‘‘We have sufficient inputs that more militants will try to sneak into the Valley. So troops have been put on high alert in the same sector.’’

The Army has recovered four AK rifles, 16 grenades and huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the possession of the slain. It’s the second infiltration bid in the last two days. In last one week three militant attempts to infiltrate into the Valley were neutralized by the alert troops and all the infiltrators killed.

Joneja said that the militants are focusing on the North Kashmirs Uri and Kupwara sectors to push more and more militants into the Valley.

We ‘‘have placed three-layered security around the LoC. And the killings of the militants is an indication that our men are alert on the LoC,’’ he said.

To prevent the infiltration, Army apart from fencing has also installed latest gadgets like sensors on the LoC. However, the snowfall and last year’s quake has left the fencing damaged at some places making it easy for the militants to sneak into the Valley.
