A special CBI court here on Thursday sentenced former IAS officer Sripati Narayan Dubey to four years of imprisonment for his role in the multi-million rupee fodder scam in which Railway Minister Lalu Prasad is one of the main accused.

Judge Sanjay Prasad also slapped a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh on him. “The money has to be realised and the accused has to pay the fine,” observed Prasad while delivering the verdict. Dubey, an engineer who was promoted to the Indian Administrative Service by the erstwhile Bihar Government, was Divisional Commissioner of Dumka during 1992-94 when Rs 1,47,60,294 were allegedly fraudulently withdrawn with fake allotment letters and without supplying the feed and medicines.

“We hope to secure conviction in other cases as well,” said CBI DIG A K Singh.
