KAPURTHALA, OCT 29: Punjab police has arrested a dreaded terrorist belonging to Babbar Khalsa outfit and recovered five kgs of RDX, along with arms and ammunition, from him.

SSP Iqbal Singh, in a release here today, said the arrested terrorist Narinder Pal Singh Khalsa alias Sahbaz Singh, a resident of the rail coach factory colony here, had close links with Wadhawa Singh of Babbar Khalsa. He had brought the ammunition from abroad to create tension in Punjab during Diwali.

On interrogation, Narinder Pal Singh revealed that he was undergoing a prison term for seven years in an RDX case and was currently out on bail, the SSP said.

Narinder Pal Singh was first arrested in 1990 in connection with the murder of one Nihang Jarnai. After being released on bail, however, he continued his links with terrorists abroad and a case under Indian Telegraph Act was registered in Sadar police station in 1997 for misusing telephone lines for communicating with terrorists abroad.

In 1998, police registered a case against him following recovery of arms and ammunition from his possession. Later in the year, Narinder, alongwith Rajinder Pal Singh, Gurbinder Singh and Dhian Singh were arrested by Sadar police and four kgs RDX and five batteries were recovered from them. He was then convicted by a court, which sentenced him to seven years imprisonment, the SSP said.
