Asked about the burn-out issue, the 33-year-old said: “Every player needs rest to re-energise himself.”

To another question, he said performance and not the age should be the criteria for selection. The Mumbai batsman, who underwent a surgery on his shoulder in March, has already been ruled out of the one-day series against West Indies which is slated to begin on May 18.

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said a decision on Tendulkar’s availability for the Test series against West Indies will be known after physio John Gloster submits his report. Gloster is expected to examine Tendulkar next week and based on his report, BCCI would take a decision on the master batsman.

Tendulkar, who missed India’s recent one-day series against England, arrived here yesterday afternoon and visited Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala where the family had a darshan of Lord Majunatheshwara. Accompanied by family members, including wife Anjali, he offered special pooja and “sarpa sanskara” ritual at the Shree Kukke Subramanya temple. Other rituals, “ashlesha bali” and “naga pratishte”, are slated to be performed tomorrow.

Debris believed to be from a missile fired by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor in May has been found in Srinagar's Dal Lake. The debris has been handed over to the Air Force for further investigation. Sources say the target may have been a military installation in Srinagar, which is close to the lake. The make of the missile is yet to be determined.
