FEBRUARY 8: Promising Harmeet Kahlon of Chandigarh led the field for the `Mahindra Rookie Golfer of the Year’ title by being the highest money earner with Rs 2.7 lakhs, well ahead of Digvijay Singh (Rs 1.7 lakhs).

Mumbai’s Manohar Dike, having made 10 cuts out of 12 starts, and with a putting average of 1.56 per hole, topped in the race for the `Mahindra Champion Putter of the Year’ award.

Nagsen Etambe and Parimi Nirmala have been given the pride of place in the Pune Mayor Trophy first Maharashtra Ranking Rs 60,000 carrom tournament, to be conducted by the Pune Mahanagar Palika, from February 10 to 13 at the Pandit Nehru Stadium, Pune. The championship will start with open singles from 10.00 a.m.

National taekwondo

The Taekwondo Association of Maharashtra will conduct the 18th National taekwondo championship, for men and women, at the Mulund Sports Complex, Mulund (W), Mumbai 400 080.

In view of the 14th Asian championship, scheduled to be held at Hong Kong in May, the selection trials for the Indian team will be held during the championship.
