Kyani advances

Cyrus Kyani (+40) defeated Nikhil Ootam (+25) 93-84, 47-87, 92-71, 103-27 in a best of five-frame quarter-final tie of the Anthony D’Cruz Open Handicap Snooker Tournament at the Catholic Gymkhana, on Wednesday.

In a pre-quarter-final encounter, Omar Balsara (+20) beat Kunal Solanki (+45) 93-47, 54-99, 118-68.

ACCS move up

Armoured Corps Centre & School (ACCS) beat Army Service Corps (ASC) 6 1/2 goals to 4 to advance in the Oberoi Cup Glucon D Heinz-sponsored Cavalcade and Polo Tournament at the Mahalaxmi race course ground, on Wednesday.

Sandeep Dewan (2), Narendra Singh (2), VS Kahlor and AS Sidhu scored for ACCS. GS Pandher (2), Shakti Singh and DS Garewal reduced the margin for ASC. In an exhibition game, ARC B beat ARC A 7-5. Ramiro Garros (2), Martin Nero (2), Shamsher Ali (2) and Vishal Singh scored for the winners. Pepe Araja (3) and Nicholas Garros (2) accounted for the losers.

Sosa struggles

Dilip Sosa scored a hard-fought 25-5, 10-14, 25-16 victory over Jitendra Vanel in an open singles sixth-round tie of the fifth Mayor’s Cup Carrom Tournament at the BMC Gymkhana, Azad Maidan, on Wednesday.

Indian Oil A top

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) A, represented by Prabha Y Kunder, Uday Bedekar, PT Karamchandani, KR Vyas, R Das and B Maity, beat ONGC C 64-37 IMPs in the final of the PSCB Bridge Team Championship, recently.

IOC will represent the PSCB team at the Nationals to be held at Kasol, Simla.
