NEW DELHI, June 8: Fighter `A’ XI were crowned the champions of the second Chandigarh League cricket tournament after beating Pace XI by three wickets in the final here at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh yesterday.After Pace XI scored 195 for 8 in the allotted 40 overs, Fighter `A’ owed their win to a gritty 101-run fifth wicket partnership between man of the match Navdeep Singh and Navneet Thapar.

Though they still needed 54 runs off the last 60 balls, Arun Tuli saw to it that Fighter `A’ won with seven balls to spare. Earlier, PACE XI were helped by a strokeful knock of 61 by Yuvraj Singh.

Pace XI: 194 for 8 (Yuvraj Singh 61, Harjeet Bajwa 37, Arun Sharma 4-31).

Fighter `A’: 196 for 7 (Navdeep Singh 57, Navneet Thapar 46).
