BANGALORE, MARCH 15: Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd today dismissed as `baseless' rumours that Fiat Spa of Italy was closing its operations in India. The company said its joint venture with the Premier Automobiles Ltd (PAL) - to be signed shortly - would increase production of Uno cars to about 3,000 per month.Addressing a news conference here, Fiat vice-president (sales and marketing), Enrico Ferrero, said the company had received necessary approvals from FIs and the JV operations would commence soon.The company, he said, had assured all prospective buyers that there would be a major quantum leap in production of Uno cars from the Kurla plant, where it had pumped in $ 150 million for revamping manufacturing facilities.
