A dazzling unbeaten 74 by Imran Farhat took Chandigarh Lions to a six-wicket victory over Hyderabad Heroes in the seventh match of the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 Championship, played at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium today.

Farhat thumped five sixes and seven fours and his partnership of 75 for the third wicket with Manish Sharma transformed the game after Hyderabad Heroes had grabbed the early wicket of Hamish Marshall and then T P Singh in their defence of 134.

By the time Farhat had raced to his fifty, he had already hit five fours and two sixes to set up Lions within fifty runs of the target. This was followed by a rude welcome to Ambati Rayudu as Farhat nonchalantly hit two towering sixes in the 13th over. When Chris Cairns was caught by Chris Harris off his own bowling in the 16th over, the chase had become a mere formality.

Brief Scores

Hyderabad Heroes: 134/7 (Anirudh Singh 39; Andrew Hall 3/17) v Chandigarh Lions: 137/4 in 16.2 overs (Imran Farhat 74 n.o.)
