BHUBANESWAR, May 2: The Indian Express launched its 19th edition here today.Releasing a special supplement brought out to mark the launch, Governor Gopala Ramanujam said that he hoped a local edition of The Indian Express would not only make the people of the State “nationally conscious but also make others sit up and take notice of Orissa.”He hoped the newspaper would give the State a voice at the national level and contribute to its development.Calling the Press a forum for expressing the voice of the underprivileged against that of the powerful elite, Ramanujam urged newspapers to go beyond the news. Expressing concern over the rising atrocities against women today, he urged newspapers not just to report facts but investigate reasons for such phenomena and bring about a social change.
