CPM tense as Didi backs PDS bandh

Kolkata: In West Bengal, Friday’s 12-hour bandh call by the CPI(M)’s own breakaway group, the Party for Democratic Socialism (PDS), is keeping the government on tenterhooks with the Trinamool Congress now lending ‘‘moral support’’ to it.

‘‘The issues are important and we feel the bandh call is justified,’’ Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee said today, adding that ‘‘if CPI(M) tries to force in any trouble, we cannot guarantee peace nor remain passive spectators.’’
