Former Union Minister of State Balram Singh Yadav, who rejoined the Congress recently, today succumbed to a bullet injury after he was found in a pool of blood at his residence at the Civil Police Circle in Etawah.
Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.
According to sources, Yadav took his revolver from his daughter-in-law at around 12.30 pm and went to his first-floor room. Around 5.30 pm, the family members heard a gunshot and found Yadav in a pool of blood in the room with the revolver in his hand, they said.
Yadav was rushed to B R Ambedkar Hospital at Etawah from where he was referred to the Agra Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way. The sources said the bullet had pierced Yadav’s head.
Union Minister of State for Mines in the 1990s, Yadav left the Congress to join the Samajwadi Party before moving to the BJP. He rejoined the Congress seven months ago.
Although Senior Superintendent of Police K B Singh said it seems to be a case of suicide, local Congress leaders have rubbished that theory. According to them, Yadav had shown no signs of depression while attending a meeting held by Salman Khursheed on June 30.
