The invitation says the event managers will take complete care of your ‘body, mind and soul’. It might sound like an invite to a yoga or a reiki session on alternative therapy, but an accompanying photograph paints more than a clear picture. The brochure says: ‘‘There will be buffet, drinks, glamourous female hostesses to take care of your body and soul.’’

Welcome to this swanky new world where sleaze is wisely sold under the garb of entertainment, topped off with an event management company to handle promotions and clients. Show them the money, they will provide booze, women and beds.

The Indian Express stumbled on one such New Age set-up, Studio 29 which claims to have years of experience in event management, which distributes sleek, glossy handouts to affluent businessmen and top-level executives.

Their brochure boasts: ‘‘Beauty and the Beasts. You can feast your eyes by admiring the bold, gorgeous, striptease dancers. You can even feel them. In a five-star environment, it will be pure entertainment… Entry fees: Rs 20,000 (inclusive of all fun!).’’

The event ‘organisers’ camp in expensive hotels, others may have their own offices. With a full-fledged personnel department and effective publicity by word of mouth, some are now emboldened enough to put their once taboo businesses into print.

Expectedly, interested patrons can’t simply walk in. Event organisers meet clients individually. ‘‘I will provide you all the best Egyptian dancers. Satisfaction guaranteed,’’ says the event organiser, who identifies himself as Sayyed. But Sayyed stood up this reporter twice and avoided a meeting.

Senior Police Inspector Shirish Inamdar of the Social Service Branch was not available for comment. An officer says: ‘‘There are many party organisers who are pimps. We can raid such parties but few people come forward to report it.’’ Holding the event at very frequent intervals is not possible, so organisers tend to sell the idea of private parties.
