NEW DELHI, August 1: The European Union today imposed a ban on exports of fisheries products from India prompting the government to announce measures to improve quality and hygiene conditions of seafood. The ban takes effect from today.
“We will initiate measures to improve quality and hygienic conditions of seafood exports in cooperation with the State governments and exporters,” said Commerce minister, Dr Ramaiah.
India was confident of tackling the ban and it would offer to rectify the complaints on the quality front, he said.
