Somerset paceman Richard Johnson has been called into England’s Test squad for the tour of Bangladesh, the England and Wales Cricket Board said on Monday. He replaces Lancashire seamer James Anderson who pulled out with a knee injury last week.
Johnson made a belated and successful Test debut in June at the age of 28 against Zimbabwe when he took six wickets in the first innings but missed much of the rest of the season, also with knee trouble. He has been named ahead of Sussex’s James Kirtley, who has a shin splints problem, and 34-year-old Martin Bicknell, whose age may have counted against him.
England are playing two Tests and three one-dayers on the Bangladesh tour.
