Maoists supporters in Nepal issued death threats against contractors and engineers involved in the construction of its single largest hydro power project, which has Indians as one of its major stakeholders. CPN-Maoist affiliated Autonomous Council of Karnali (ACK) issued these threats against the West Seti Hydro Power Ltd, the 750 MW project, whose construction work starts in September-October.
“Those who visit this far-western region in connection with works relating to the West Seti and Upper Karnali projects will face strong people’s action,” warned ACK chairman Gorakh Bahadur KC. “If they disobey our warning, they might be attacked or murdered,” he said.
