PUNE, JULY 29: Admissions for engineering in the mechanical, computer, electronics and telecommunications branches for 1999-2000, at the Progressive Education Society and the Modern Education Society, Pune, are not recognised by the University of Pune, an official press release of the University clarified today.

The All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, Delhi, has recommended that the State Government permit the above institutes to start engineering courses from this academic year, but the University has announced that it will not accept the eligibilty forms and examination forms of its students until it grants affiliation to the engineering colleges of the above institutes.

Registrar interview postponed : THE University of Pune has once again postponed interviews for the post of Registrar, which were scheduled for Saturday, July 31, announced Officiating Registrar, M G Shinde, today. A post that fell vacant almost two years back in October ’97 when Dr Shridhar Bhosale retired, the latest advertisement was published by the university in May 99. University officials say that since the State Government did not respond to the university’s application for permission to conduct interviews, they had been indefinitely postponed.

After several complaints over the last six months, from employees of the Finance Department, University of Pune against the functioning of the Finance Officer, University of Pune (UoP) M S Jadhav, the Management Council of the UoP today refused to confirm his appointment, indirectly demoting Jadhav to his previous position in the internal auditing department.
