The city police today arrested Tamil Nadu Liberation Army (TNLA) leader Rajaram, a notorious extremist who had been evading arrest for the past 10 years.
Vadapalani inspector and his party picked him up near Nerkundram junction and seized a bag full of explosives including gelatine sticks and detonators.
He was later produced before the 17th Metropolitan Magistrate at Saidapet and remanded in custody. An expert in bomb-making, Rajaram was involved in several sensational bomb blast cases at Suruli Malai,
Madurai, Chidambaram, Kallagam, Kotaiyur, Melur, Rajapalayam and Vepery in Chennai. He is also wanted in eight murder cases.
