Cracking the whip on violations of the model code of conduct in Himachal Pradesh, the Election Commission has ordered O.C. Thakur, DIG, Mandi, to go on leave for two months from today. The orders were enforced by the Home Department today. The police officer was sent on leave on the ground that his residence was located in the Mandi police range. Thakur hails from Kullu district. Sanjay Kumar, DIG Police Range, Shimla, has been given additional charge of Mandi Range with directions to sit in Mandi for appropriate time, besides holding the office in Shimla Range.
