PUNE, Sept 17: Taking serious note of the mugging of two senior citizens during their morning walks near Parvati and Sarasbag on Tuesday, the Swargate police have intensified vigil in those areas in the mornings.

Two men, armed with a sword and knife, attempted to rob retired Inspector Arjunrao Shinde near Sarasbag around 4.30 am on Tuesday. Within an hour, the same duo robbed Chandrakant Shridhar Hinde, a CDA accounts officer, near the flyover at Parvati.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Jagan Nath ordered inspector Dara Irani and Sub Inspector Ajit Joshi to intensify patrolling in the Sarasbag and Parvati areas.
