FIRST, Amisha Patel was dumped from the series of international stage shows featuring Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Apparently, Kareena refused to be on the same shows with Amisha, and volunteered to bring on board elder sister Karisma if the organisers agreed to replace Amisha. That8217;s exactly what happened. Next came the news that Amisha was quickly snapped up by the organisers of the shows featuring Sunny Deol, Dharmendra and Akshay Kumar. But according to sources in Bollywood, the actress has been recently replaced by Tabu, who will now travel in Amisha8217;s place.

ACTRESS Sarita Choudhury 8212; remember the sultry siren in Mississippi Masala? 8212; is creating a buzz once again. Only this time, it isn8217;t for any of Mira Nair8217;s saucy films. The New York-based actress has been reportedly making several trips to India and none of them have been for visiting friends and family. In the pipeline is a film with Sona Jain, an independent filmmaker from Delhi. But first, Choudhury has been cast in a steamy role in an Ismail Merchant production, an untitled project that is being directed by NRI director Narain Jashanmal. The actress plays the lead role along with Mumbai-based actor Arif Zakaria, who is cast as her childhood sweetheart. The film has been shot entirely in Goa and is said to be hotter than a beach on a midsummer day.

FILMMAKER Karan Johar has been saying he8217;s done with family dramas and mushy romances. He announced that his next production, to be directed by his former assistant Nikhil Advani, will be a thriller, and Karan said he was writing the film himself. But just a couple of months after they made that announcement comes the news that they8217;ve junked the idea of doing a thriller. And to nobody8217;s surprise, they are considering a 8216;8216;soft love story8217;8217;. Vivek Oberoi was approached to star in the two-hero project, but he turned down the offer, insisting on a script first. Saif Ali Khan is in talks, and Shah Rukh Khan has promised he will do anything that Dharma Production offers him. There8217;s also some buzz that Kareena will star in the film. Major chunks are expected to be filmed in New York.

Do you want to see another film by M F Husain? Mahesh Manjrekar: I saw Gajagamini and although Husain had clearly made the film with passion, I didn8217;t get it. In any case, that8217;s no reason why he should not be allowed to make a film again. And I will definitely go see his next film. Laxman Shreshta: For heaven8217;s sake, no! I feel he8217;s a great painter but a very bad film-maker. Gajagamini was unbearable. Jitish Kallat: Yes, I would like to see many films by Husain, and lots more of his art. Husain has always been a very active creative person, and one would expect him to continue. Tabu: Of course I want to see Husainsaab8217;s next film 8212; I8217;m acting in it, yaar. I think we should give him a chance. |
