VADODARA, Feb 9: Suspecting Adulteration of fuel, the district supply officials on Monday night sealed the Jalaram Petrol Pump, located in Alamgir village, on the National Highway No 8.
Following a tip off, the officials raided the petrol pump around 8 pm, sealed all the records and checked the density of the fuel which indicated adulteration due to mixture of kerosene and solvent in diesel and petrol respectively. Besides, there was a variation in the stock and the sale records, an official spokesman said.
According to DSO Ashok Singh, the sale of fuel was recorded less than the actual sale on the day the petrol pump was raided. 8220;It is also suspected that the pump management headed by one Deepak Brahmbhatt tampered with the records and also adulterated the fuel,8221; he said, adding that variation to the extent of about 1,000 litres was detected.
The pump with a stock of petrol worth about Rs 1.36 lakh and diesel worth about Rs 1.59 lakh was sealed indefinitely and fuel samples sent for scientific analaysis to confirm the adulteration, Singh added.
Jalaram Petrol Pump is the fourth in the district to have been sealed in the past six months.
