With campaigning for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam ending tomorrow, Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani is arriving here on a day-long visit to boost the morale of party workers who are in low spirits apparently due to the results of the different exit polls.

The Deputy PM would arrive at Silchar tomorow morning to address a rally in support of former Union minister Kabindra Purakayastha, who is pitted against veteran Congress leader and sitting MP Santosh Mohan Dev.

He would later fly to Diphu, Nagaon, Jorhat and Dibrugarh to wind up his Assam campaign before the curtain falls on campaigning at 4 pm .

In Nagaon, former state BJP president and sitting MP Rajen Gohain is contesting against Bishnu Prasad (Congress) and Dhruba Saikia (AGP), while in Dibrugarh, former Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Union president Kamakhya Prasad Tasha (BJP) is taking on state PCC chief and former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar.

A BJP spokesman said Advani’s day-long visit would provide a major fillip to the party in all the eight constituencies which are going to polls on Monday.

The BJP’s image has suffered a setback with The Indian Express-NDTV exit poll predicting a victory in only one seat out of the six for which polling was held on April 20.
