IAF chief Air Chief Marshal S.P. Tyagi on Wednesday said that the force has asked the Government for new MiG fighter simulators to hone skills and cut down on the attrition rate. Terming Tuesday’s MiG-21 crash as ‘‘unfortunate’’, Tyagi said he did not have a ‘‘magic wand’’ to wish away the aircraft’s troubles.
He said the IAF would spare no efforts to induct flight simulators to overcome the ageing factor of MiG-21s, which continue to be the force’s mainstay with about 16 squadrons.
