Ram Vilas Paswan, Sitaram Yechuri, Oscar Fernandes, R.K. Dhawan and Prem Gupta on Tuesday met the Election Commission, demanding an end to what they termed as ‘endless countermanding’ of polls in Bihar.

‘‘We accept the EC’s verdict on Chapra. This cannot go on, and elections in constituency after constituency should not be countermanded,’’ Paswan said as he emerged from a meeting with the Commission.

The leaders also said the EC should have arranged for enough security beforehand, to ensure that violation (of the electoral process) and violence did not take place. Opposing the BJP/NDA’s demand to countermand polls in Siwan, Bettiah and Madhepura Lok Sabha constituencies, LJP leader Paswan said, ‘‘We will cooperate with the EC in ensuring that free and fair polling is held in Chapra.’’
