Doha Asian Games winners to be richer by Rs 45 lac

Punjab govt has announced cash prizes of Rs 45 lakh to players from state who won medals in Asian Games.

Punjab government has announced cash prizes of Rs 45 lakh to 13 players from the state who won medals in various discipline at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in 2006.

“To motivate the players the Punjab government has decided to give a cash prize of Rs 7 lakh to those who won gold medal and Rs 5 lakh to players who had won silver medal. The players who had won bronze medal would be given a Rs 3 lakh cash prize,” said Sports and Youth Services Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike.

“The Punjab government has already released this amount and soon organise a function to honour the players,” he said.

Three players have won the gold medal, seven have returned with silver and three bagged the bronze medals.
