MUMBAI, MAY 13: Sixth seed Divya Gopal caused a minor flutter when she ousted fourth seed Jinal Jhaveri 8-1 to enter the girls8217; under-12 semis in the Ninth Maharahtra State Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament 8212; sponsored by Sansui and Sony Mony 8212; at the Bhushan Academy courts, Andheri, today.

Joining Divya in the last four were Sagarika Padke, Kanisha Mehta and Nahini Mallaya.

In the girls8217; u-10, Sanchi Ganerwal along with Roshni Luthra surged into the semi-final. Sanchi defeated Surabhi Varma 8-3 while Roshini got past Supriya Mallaya 8-5 in a closely-contested match.

The surprise entry into the last four stage was Prachi Nadkarni who defeated Nayan Bhushan 8-3 in well-fought match.

In the boys8217; u-14, Adtiya Madkekar had an easy match against Gautham Samarth, winning 6-1, 6-0 to make into the final where he will take on the winner of Akshay Chellapa and Sanjay Salian.

Madkekar was aggressive from the beginning of the match to unsettle his opponent Samarth. The top seed broke Samarth8217;s first and third serves and easily took home the first set at 6-1. In the second set, Madkekar forced Samarth to commit a lot of errors.

In the boys8217; u-10, Jaya Raj Deasi will take on Agnel Gladwin for the title clash. Desai had a tough three setter against Debendra Das 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 while Gladwin had it easy against Anuj Arora as won 6-0 6-0.
