NEW DELHI, SEPT 22: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has told the Vajpayee Government it would be difficult for the party to support the resolution on imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar in the Lok Sabha, if the Tamil Nadu Government was not dismissed first.

The AIADMK’s position is believed to have been made clear by party representative and Union Law Minister M Thambi Durai at a Union Cabinet meeting on recommending the imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar.

During the two-hour long meeting, Thambi Durai reportedly insisted that the Cabinet decide first on the issue of the DMK Government’s dismissal before it took up the Bihar Governor’s report recommending the sacking of the Rabri Devi Government.

Sources said Thambi Durai was told that Tamil Nadu was not on the agenda and could be considered “later”, to which he replied that Bihar was not on the Cabinet agenda today either.

Thambi Durai told reporters soon after the two-hour Cabinet meeting, “I told the Cabinet that astage has come in Tamil Nadu where the Fascist Karunanidhi Government has to be dismissed,” Thambi Durai, who said his party was not opposed to the use of Article 356 of the Constitution, demanded that the provision be invoked in Tamil Nadu as law and order in the State had failed.
