PATNA, JAN 23: Differences surfaced in the RJD-Congress alliance with BPCC president, Dr Shakeel Ahmed, charging the Rabri Devi ministry with adopting an indifferent attitude towards all-round growth of Bihar and announcing to hold a meeting here on February 25 to review his party’s decision on continuing alliance with RJD.

Ahmed, who is also a Minister in the Rabri Devi cabinet, declared that Congress alone could provide alternative to RJD of Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Addressing a meeting of Muzaffarpur district Congress committee activists yesterday, Ahmed said the meeting would also take stock of implementation of the agreements reached at between Congress and RJD when the former decided to support the minority Rabri Devi government last year.

“Congress participation in the Rabri ministry does not imply that the party holds similar view with RJD,” he said adding, “We are with RJD under compulsion to keep communal forces at the bay.”

He said there had been sharp changes in the political situation after Jharkhand was created. “The danger of communal forces in divided Bihar has lessened…And in the given situation we can have a relook at our decision to support the RJD ministry,” he added.
